Ingredients:

1 egg

5 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons salt

1/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons yeast

1/3 cup butter, softened

2/3 cup nonfat dry milk

2 cups water

Instructions:

In a small bowl, beat the egg and set it aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Mix well.

In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the water until it’s warm but not boiling. Add the nonfat dry milk to the warm water and stir until dissolved.

Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients. Pour in the warm water and milk mixture, followed by the beaten egg. Mix everything together until a soft dough forms.

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, knead the dough in a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment for the same duration.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Transfer it back to the lightly floured surface and divide it into equal-sized portions. Shape each portion into a roll, tucking the edges underneath to create a smooth top.

Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet, leaving a small gap between each roll to allow for rising. Cover the sheet with a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for an additional 30-45 minutes until they have doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) during the last 15 minutes of the dough’s rising time.

Once the rolls have risen, place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown on top.

Remove the rolls from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.

Serve the warm and fluffy Lion House rolls with butter or your favorite spreads. These rolls are perfect for accompanying soups, stews, or enjoyed on their own as a delicious snack. Enjoy the homemade goodness of these classic rolls made with your own ingredients.
